DrLeoffler1KATHLEEN C. LEOFFLER DNP, FNP-BC is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She began her nursing career after graduating in 1977 from Columbia University, School of Nursing in New York City. Working as a pediatric staff nurse and then supervisor at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, she saw the need to take care of the whole family and decided to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her masters and training at the University of Virginia in 1982.

Her first job as a FNP was in Front Royal, Virginia. But, seeking a more exciting location to live, she joined the United States Navy and served on active duty from 1983 to 1989 in Quantico, Virginia and Barbers Point, Hawaii. After meeting her future husband she resigned from active duty but remained a reservist until she retired in October 2003. As a civilian she has worked in the Emergency room at Stanford University Medical Center, was recalled to active duty during desert storm and worked in the family practice clinic at the Naval Hospital Newport, RI. Then moving overseas to Rota, Spain, she maintained her skills working in the family practice clinic at the Naval Hospital as a reservist. Upon returning to the States she was on faculty at the George Mason University instructing in the Family Nurse Practitioner program and working on a mobile health van serving an indigent population.

In 1999 she and her family moved to Peachtree City, Georgia. She worked at the Emory Clinic, in Fayetteville until it closed in 2000 and since then has taught on-line courses for the George Washington University Nurse Practitioner program. To continue her career in academia she enrolled in the DNP program at George Washington University in 2007 and was part of the first graduating class May 2010.  She lives in Peachtree city with her husband Frank. She has a daughter who is a senior at the University of Southern California, majoring in Broadcast Journalism.
